Springfield man in jail after prosecutors say he recorded himself molesting minors
A Springfield man is facing several sexual abuse charges involving minors where, in some instances, officials say he gave them marijuana and acid to make them compliant.
In interviews with police, the victims stated 47-year-old William Shane Berg forced them to perform sex acts when they were younger than 18, court documents say.
One of the victims told police that Berg would give them marijuana and one time acid to "facilitate taking advantage of him," according to a probable cause statement.

Berg is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of second-degree statutory sodomy.

As part of the same investigation, Berg was indicted in federal court Wednesday on a similar charge of sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to court records, the alleged offense rises to federal court because Berg is accused of using devices that were manufactured outside of the state of Missouri to record sexual acts with minors.
