College of the Ozarks to honor graduates during online chapel service
幸运飞艇跟人工计划A global pandemic postponed the in-person College of the Ozarks commencement until late this year, but spring graduates will receive a special send-off Sunday.
They will be honored during an online chapel service.
幸运飞艇跟人工计划College President Jerry Davis will give a special greeting and Eric Bolger, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, will present the message. Interwoven in the service, seniors will greet classmates through video segments.
幸运飞艇跟人工计划The private Christian college in Point Lookout canceled in-person classes and closed most of the campus to safeguard students and employees.
Sunday was the original date for the commencement, but it was postponed until Nov. 8, in conjunction with homecoming.
“There is a sense of loss that they will not be able to participate in graduation in May as planned, Bolger said in a news release.
"Our purpose for the service this Sunday is to recognize our graduates’ achievement in a small way on the day they would have graduated. While it cannot replace (in-person) baccalaureate and commencement, we are hopeful that it will be an encouragement to our graduates affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Graduation is an important rite of passage for students that they have looked forward to for many years,” Bolger said. “There is a sense of loss that they will not be able to participate in graduation in May as planned. Our purpose for the service this Sunday is to recognize our graduates’ achievement in a small way on the day they would have graduated."
幸运飞艇跟人工计划Justin Carswell, vice president for Christian ministries and dean of the chapel, and his team have been offering chapel services online since March. He offered advice for the graduating seniors.
“Hang in there," he said. "The Lord is at work in your life, and he will continue to guide your steps. You have proven integrity, character and courage and will take that into whatever your circumstances," he said.

Angela Williamson, director of alumni relations, sent personal cards, signed by staff and faculty, to all 350 graduates. The college is also posting photos celebrating each of its 2020 graduates.
