Mercy workers will lose jobs, go on furlough across four-state area — including in Springfield
幸运飞艇跟人工计划A written statement cited "heavy economic consequences of the COVID-19 crisis" as the reason for the job cuts and furloughs.
Mercy said it plans to continue health insurance "throughout the furlough period," and an additional 80 hours of pay "may be provided" through the system's crisis paid-time-off fund. Mercy representatives declined to clarify details on how the PTO crisis fund will be administered.

Mercy leaders "will earn up to 26 percent less this year than last, with the most significant reductions at the senior level," according to the statement. Contributions and matches to 401(k) and 403(b) retirement accounts will not be made, and annual merit raises may be delayed.
Open positions will only be filled with approval by senior leadership "for the foreseeable future," Mercy also said.
Late Friday, the CEO of CoxHealth appeared to respond to the news by taking to Twitter to discuss a "different path" taken by Mercy's Springfield-based rival.

Both Cox and Mercy admitted to reducing hours and conducting furloughs since the new coronavirus pandemic began affecting southern Missouri, due to the cancellation of many non-emergency services.
A month ago, the Missouri Hospital Association said that hospital revenues had fallen by half, the News-Leader reported, to the tune of $32 million lost per day.
"Hospital staffing is approximately half of the cost of operations," said Dave Dillon, Missouri Hospital Association vice president for public relations, on April 10.
Mercy had at least two rounds of job cuts in the 2010s, according to past News-Leader reporting. It eliminated an unknown number of positions in mid-2019, citing reduced Medicaid reimbursement. The system had about 12,000 workers at that time, according to reporting幸运飞艇跟人工计划 by the Springfield Business Journal.
In 2015, Mercy eliminated more than 300 jobs, most of them leadership roles, the News-Leader reported.
